THE MODEL
  • Originally produced by the Rootes Group, the Sunbeam Rapier spanned from Series I to Series V, beginning production the year 1955 and finishing in the summer of 1967.
  • The Rapier Series III featured only very slight cosmetic differences to it’s predecessor, however its engine, which was also used in the Sunbeam Alpine, featured a new eight-port aluminium cylinder head, increased compression ratio, re-designed valves, and a new sportier camshaft.
  • Factory specification of the Rapier Series III featured a 1.5L OHV Inline 4 producing 78bhp, Twin Zenith carburettors and a 4-Speed Manual gearbox with Overdrive.
