  • Launched at the 1975 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari 308 GTB was introduced to the public as a replacement for the legendary Dino 246 GT.
  • Designed by Pininfarina and built by Scaglietti, the 308 represented Ferrari’s first foray into the mid-engined V8 market, a platform that’s remained part of the Ferrari line up right until the present day, with the SF90 Stradale.
  • Although some 3,000 GTB’s would eventually leave the factory in Maranello, the first 800 or so examples are prized for their lightweight Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) bodywork, saving a total of 150kg over the later steel-bodied cars.
  • A transversely mounted 3.0L V8 engine (F106AB) with four twin-choke Weber 40DCNF carburettors produced 252bhp, giving the ‘Vetroresina’ an impressive 0-60mph time of 6.5s and top speed of over 150mph.
  • A 5-speed dog-leg manual gearbox, unassisted rack-and-pinion steering, limited slip differential and all-round disc brakes with independent suspension at both the front and rear, produced an overall package that’s become an icon of the 1970’s era.
  • Delivered new by Grassick Garage in Perth, Scotland, on the 12th September 1977, chassis no. 20317 is 1 of only 150 (or so) RHD, dry-sump lubricated Vetroresinas ever built.
  • The car’s original Service Book shows regular maintenance at Ferrari main dealers and marque specialists right through to 1985 (where the book ends), after which point the car’s service records, invoices and receipts show regular work by:
    • Maranello Concessionaires;
    • G Windle & Son;
    • Bob Houghton;
    • Shiltech Performance Cars;
    • SBR Race Engineering;
    • SMDG Ferrari Specialists;
    • Emblem Sports Cars; and;
    • Forza 288
  • The car is complete with full original book pack, car cover, as well as its original tool kit.
  • Since the car has been with us, ch.20317 has gone through a full mechanical inspection at Classic Performance Engineering, and has subsequently benefitted from some light maintenance and new Michelin XWX tyres all round – one of the highest speed rated tyres of the 70’s and 80’s.
