BMW E30 M3

THE MODEL

• The BMW M3 E30 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, and it was first introduced in 1985. The E30 M3 was created as a homologation model for BMW to enter the Group A touring car racing series. In order to meet the regulations, BMW had to build 5,000 examples of the E30 M3 for the road.
• It used the BMW S14 four-cylinder engine, a high-revving DOHC design with a head closely based on that of the BMW S38 six-cylinder engine and the block from the BMW M10 four-cylinder engine with a 7,250 rpm redline. In its road-going form, the engine produced 192 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque, which was sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. It also had a number of other performance enhancements, including stiffer suspension, larger brakes, and a limited-slip differential, aerodynamic upgrades which included a rear wing and a front air dam.
• It was an instant success on the race track, winning the inaugural World Touring Car Championship in 1987, as well as numerous other races and championships. The car’s success on the track helped to boost its reputation among enthusiasts, and the E30 M3 is now considered one of the greatest BMWs of all time.

THIS CAR

• Presented in Diamond Black Metallic over a Beige leather interior, our M3 has been treated to a full interior deep clean, along with a 2-stage paint correction. The car presents well externally, however is not without its faults. The paint is cracked on the spoiler, there’s some bubbling near the sunroof and also some marks on the front bumper.
• In the way of options the car is fitted with an electric sunroof, electric windows, BMW Bavaria cassette player and an on board trip computer. We can happily report all of which are in good working order.
• Our M3 was originally registered in Spain in December 1987 where it has spent most of its life, until being imported to the UK in 2022. From it’s life in the Spain there is very little paperwork availble.
• Since the car arrived in the UK it had an initial minor service with Munich Motors in Wokingham, along with an MOT.
• Since having the car under our care from it’s current owner, we had agreed to take the car to the famous Classic Bahnstormers with the brief of giving the car a thorough recommission. The team at Bahnstormers have worked for months on the car, with bills just over £10k now being accounted for.
