THE PROCESS

HOW WE WORK

Whether you’re looking to buy or sell, our priority is to make sure that every Hangar 136 experience is as simple, smooth and enjoyable as possible. This step-by-step guide should give you a good idea of what to expect if you do decide to work with us.

Step 2

THE DRIVE

No two classic cars are the same, and so the only way to truly fall in love with a car is to get up-close and personal with it.

That’s why we invite all potential buyers to visit us at Bicester Heritage (where we store our cars) to experience the car first-hand. This is your opportunity to see it, feel it, hear it, smell it, and most importantly, drive it.

Step 3

THE DEAL

You’ve driven the car. It’s amazing. You love it. Now it’s time to get down to business and agree the deal…

If you’re happy with car and would like to shake hands there and then – great! But equally, if you’d like some time to go away and think about it, we can always pick things up at a later date. All we want is a deal that works for everyone!

Step 4

THE PAYMENT

With a deal now agreed in principle, the next step will be to issue a Purchase Invoice detailing the Terms of Sale (Purchase Price, Collection Date, Payment Details etc).

Important
The car will only be secured once a 10% Deposit has been transferred to our protected Client Bank Account, following which you’ll have until Collection Day to transfer the remaining amount.

Step 5

THE COLLECTION

Congratulations! You’re now the proud new owner of a beautiful classic car – it’s time to bring her home.

You can either drive the car straight from the storage facility in Bicester (aka… the fun way), or we can arrange for safe and secure enclosed transportation directly to your door through one of our trusted logistics partners.

All of the car’s documentation, history and paperwork will be organised and presented to you in a bespoke Hangar 136 Folio – just a small way of saying thank you!

Step 2

THE CONSIGNMENT

We now need to agree the Terms of Sale. A typical Consignment contract will last for 3 months, during which time Hangar 136 will be responsible for storing, preparing, marketing and, ultimately, selling your car.

It’s also at this stage that we’ll need to agree a Net Sale Price (how much you want to take home at the end of the day), as well as our Agreed Commission of 10% (inc. VAT).

THE PREPARATION

Vehicle Inspection Report
We’ll commission an independent third-party specialist to conduct a full visual and mechanical inspection of the car. But don’t worry, the aim of this report isn’t to highlight every little stone chip and watermark. Rather, it’s designed to make sure that the car is solid, healthy, and ready to be used and enjoyed.

Valeting/Detailing
We treat all of our cars to a full in-and-out valet/detailing service to make sure they’re looking their best.

Professional Photography
With all the greasy bits done and the car now sparkling, it’s time for photography. Our professional photographer will capture every aspect of the car: exterior, interior, mechanical and fine details.

And the best bit? We cover all the costs. Yay.

Step 4

THE SELL

Aaaaand we’re live!

The car is published on our website (as well as all the major classifieds – Car & Classic, etc), a stock alert is sent to our subscribers, an Instagram post (or two) notifies our followers, a magazine advert spreads the word… it’s show time.

For the next 3 months, we’ll do everything we can to market and promote the car to as many potential buyers as possible. All the while, the car itself will be stored and maintained at Bicester Heritage by our on-site storage partners, Historit (if Carlsberg did classic car storage solutions…).

All enquiries, viewings and inspections will be coordinated by us and news of any offers, opportunities or potential deals will, of course, be relayed back to you.

Step 5

THE DEAL

If a deal is agreed and signed during the Consignment Term, payment will be processed via our protected Client Bank Account and the Agreed Net Sales Price will be electronically transferred to your Bank Account within 14 days of the deal being signed.

However, if for any reason a deal cannot be achieved by the end of the Consignment Term, a 2 week cooling off period will begin within which you can decide to either:

  • Continue The Sale – by renewing the Consignment Agreement under a revised set of terms; or
  • End The Sale – by arranging for the car to be collected from us in Bicester

It’s completely up to you!
