VEHICLE DETAILS
ABOUT THIS CAR
First registered in February 1975. The vehicle was originally built in the mid-1990s as a replica of Roger Clark's famous LVX 942J rally car.
In 2009, the car underwent a comprehensive rebuild with the intention of creating a long-distance endurance rally vehicle. The shell was converted to left-hand drive and prepared to Safari Rally specification, including long-range fuel tanks, roll cage installation, suspension upgrades and other competition-focused modifications.
Key Specifications:
In 2019, the vehicle underwent a substantial mechanical rebuild by Rheinlandgarage in Germany. Documented works included engine removal and rebuild, machining and cylinder head work, installation of bespoke internal components, clutch and drivetrain refurbishment, axle work and rolling-road tuning. Accompanying invoices total approximately €11,400 and include a recorded engine output of approximately 195 bhp.
In 2020, the vehicle underwent a further programme of refurbishment and mechanical overhaul by Noci Motor Classic in Italy. Documented works included gearbox and differential rebuilding, suspension and steering refurbishment, wheel bearings, chassis and underside restoration, electrical upgrades and general recommissioning work. Accompanying invoices total more than €32,000.
Prior to being offered for sale with us, the vehicle was independently inspected. Following the inspection, a small number of maintenance items were addressed, including steering adjustment, rear brake servicing, replacement rear wheel bearings and seals, a full service with new plugs, oil and filter, and tyre balancing. Supporting documentation is available.
The vehicle is presented as a competition-prepared Escort with extensive historic rally-inspired modifications, documented restoration history and supporting invoices.
Disclaimer: While every effort is made to ensure our historic rally cars are prepared to a high standard, buyers should appreciate that these are competition vehicles. By their very nature, participation in historic rallying places unique demands on both mechanical and electrical systems, and faults can arise despite thorough preparation. Prospective buyers should therefore budget for ongoing maintenance, recommissioning, and event preparation costs as an expected part of ownership.
